Welcome to Fairweather Gardens!
Summer 2010
We are mail-order growers of unusual Trees, Shrubs & Perennials, and we strive to send out the best plants that you can order by mail. When you receive plants from us, we think you'll be in for a pleasant surprise if you have previously ordered only from mass merchandisers. We are a small, hands-on nursery, and we do not ship the tiny rooted cuttings or anemic little plantlets you may have received from others. Our plants are ready to set out in your garden and enjoy! We’re located in southern New Jersey, about an hour from Philadelphia, and we ship to all U.S. points east of the Rockies. Because of plant quarantines we cannot ship to other U.S. states or outside of the U.S.A.
Right now, we're between seasons. We finished our spring shipping May 4, and we'll post our fall listings in early August. Our print catalogue will also be sent out in early August. However, you can still browse last spring's listings, updated as of last April 30. This will give you an idea of the kinds of plants we grow, but please hold off ordering for fall until we post our fall listings, and please order only from those listings.
You can visit us and purchase plants in person at our Open Houses, and we'll be posting our Fall Open House dates in early August. We think you’ll enjoy seeing our many unusual plants close up, and you can also purchase plants on the spot. For dates, please check our Calendar.
It's easy to contact us by email, fax, or regular mail. You may also phone us during business hours. Our business hours are Monday-Friday, 8-12 and 1-5, Eastern Time. We’re often out in the nursery, but you can leave a message, and we’ll get back to you shortly. We look forward to hearing from you!
Robert Hoffman & Robert Popham
A Letter from Robert Hoffman
Dear Friends,
I must share the sad and unbelievable news that Fairweather Gardens co-owner, Robert Popham, died on Saturday, May 8, 2010, of a pulmonary embolism. While recovering from a broken and dislocated ankle, he was suddenly and unexpectedly stricken at home.
Robert’s meticulousness and attention to detail are present in every plant we send out and on every page of our catalogue. Visitors to our Open Houses never failed to comment on his stentorian voice and Ciceronian diction as he called out the Latin names of their plants. Fairweather Gardens will carry on, and we will strive to meet the high standards that he set for all of us.
Sincerely,
Robert Hoffman
