Recent hybrids and selections have given new life to this old-fashioned shrub, which produces enormous quantities of flowers in May and June. The new selections are just as floriferous as the old-fashioned ones, but they remain a more managable 3-4 feet instead of reaching 6-9 feet, as the older ones did. Weigela is easy to grow in any well-drained soil in full sun and is ideal blended into a shrub or perennial border. Z. (4)5-9
