Vitex agnus-castus 'Shoal Creek' - Chaste-Tree
We have been impressed by this new introduction. Large 12-18-inch spikes of blue-violet flowers appear nearly all summer, and the color is noticeably more brilliant than on the species. A vigorous shrub that can reach 10 feet or more and can be trained as a small tree in the South. In the North it can die back in winter but will usually resprout from the roots and bloom the same season. Z.(6)7-9
Vitex negundo var. heterophylla - Cutleaf Chaste Tree
A superb choice for hot, dry sites in full sun, the Cutleaf Chaste Tree has attractive lavender flowers on slender stalks from mid to late summer and chiseled, finely-cut gray-green foliage with silvery undersides. Airy and open in outline, the Cutleaf Chaste Tree is excellent mixed with sun-loving perennials. It grows to 10-15 feet in warmer areas but should reach only 5-8 feet in colder regions. In severe winters it may die back, but new stems will replace the old and bloom that same summer. Z. 5b-9
