Current Genus: Forsythia
Forsythia Golden Peep - Forsythia
We're often quite amazed by the ridiculous names attached to plants by their originators! Be that as it may, this plant, fortunately, is a winner. Dwarf and compact, Golden Peep grows only 18-30 inches high and wide and is smothered in yellow flowers. PP 13050. Z. 5-8
Forsythia viridissima Citrus Swizzle - Forsythia
In recent years we have benefited from breeding programs dedicated to restyling Forsythia foliage: 'Kumson' has leaves resembling crackle glazing on pottery, and now we have the just-released Citrus Swizzle, whose leaves look somewhat like Holly foliage. Citrus Swizzle leafs out with golden-yellow variegation before settling into an ivory on green pattern. Furthermore, this plant has a dwarf habit of growth, reaching 18-24 inches high and wide, and the plant does well sited in full sun or light shade. The yellow flowers are heralds of spring. PP 16464. Z. 5-8
Forsythia viridissima var. koreana 'Kumson' - Forsythia
A Forsythia unlike any you've ever seen before! Each leaf vein is delicately traced at first in cream, which then becomes silver. This creates a lace-like network that looks like the crackle glazing found on some antique pottery, making 'Kumson' ideal for an accent shrub to 4-6 feet. Dappled light or part shade is required for this unique Forsythia, which displays typical yellow flowers in spring. Z. 5-8
