Eleutherococcus sieboldianus 'Variegatus' - Variegated Fiveleaf Aralia

This erect, upright-growing shrub with compound leaves shaped like the fingers of a hand is handsome as well as versatile. It can be integrated into the mixed shrub border, planted as a specimen in a naturalistic setting, or several together will form a thick hedge for privacy or security (it has small prickles). It is one of the few plants that will grow in dry shade, and city pollution doesn't faze it, either! The delicate leaves of this rare selection are outlined with a luscious creamy-white banding that contrasts handsomely with the surrounding foliage of neighboring plants in a shady corner of the garden. Grows slowly to 6-8 feet. PHS Gold Medal Award. Z. 4-8
