Delphinium exaltatum - Tall Larkspur
We love Delphiniums for their brilliant clear blue colors, but we gave up years ago trying to grow the finicky and short-lived large-flowered hybrids. To have that brilliant color without the fuss we suggest this native Delphinium, which produces big airy spikes of true-blue flowers from July to September. Found in moist woods from Pennsylvania to Ohio and south to North Carolina and Alabama, D. exaltatum will even bloom in deep shade, though it's at its best with only light shade. Flowers are produced on 3-6-foot stalks, and it's even drought tolerant once established. So there's no excuse for hesitating! Order this one today before we sell out! Z. 5-8
